The situation of school catering (SV) in Germany is desolate, so that a multitude of causes must be mentioned. Not all aspects can be covered in the necessary breadth and depth in a single
article. The SV is too complex for this.
The article tries to deal with important aspects that should be addressed first. The topic will continue to be a major construction site, which must be driven forward with perseverance. Whether and until when this will succeed must remain open. Other countries are definitely further ahead (internal comparison).
One of the most important prerequisites is the willingness of society as a whole to value nutrition more. Such a shift of priorities towards quality awareness is a very lengthy undertaking and can only succeed over generations, especially with the help of nutrition education. In connection with this, society must also make more money available and eliminate inhibiting legal requirements.
